We also recommend the following fascinating destinations east of the Pacific Northwest. They are certainly worth a side trip while you’re in the area, if interested:
Leavenworth: A very cool Bavarian-themed town located along Highway 2 on the eastern edge of the Cascade Mountains
Winthrop: You'll think you've gone back in time to the days of the wild west. My cow-punching great-grandfather could easily have lived and worked here. Winthrop can be found along Highway 20 on the eastern flank of the Cascades.
Lake Chelan - A dam on the Chelan River near the town of Chelan has created a very long narrow lake great for boating, camping and fishing. Find the town of Chelan along Alt. Hwy. 97.
Walla Walla - Is located in the heart of wine country, and grows Walla Walla Sweet onions that some say can be eaten like apples. Find Walla Walla along Highway 12 in the extreme southeast corner of the Washington State map. Nearby are the Blue Mountains, should you wish to escape the summer heat.
